Frequently Asked Questions
Will the compressed PDF still have selectable text?
No. This tool re-renders each page as a compressed image to achieve strong file size reduction, so text in the output is no longer selectable or searchable. This works well for sharing, printing or uploading, but not if you need to edit or copy the text afterward.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The entire process — reading, rendering and re-saving the PDF — happens locally in your browser.
Which compression level should I choose?
"Balanced" works well for most documents. Choose "High quality" if the PDF contains detailed images or fine print, or "Smallest file" if file size matters more than visual quality.
Does this work with scanned documents?
Yes — it works especially well on scanned or image-heavy PDFs, since those already consist mostly of page images.
Why did compression fail on my file?
Password-protected or corrupted PDFs cannot currently be processed. Remove the password protection first, or try a different file.
